Barry Almeida's goal six minutes into overtime gave the Lancers a 4-3 win over Waterloo in their fifth and deciding game for the USHL Clark Cup championship Saturday night at the Mid-America Center.

The Lancers won their seventh Clark Cup title and first since 2001, their third under coach Mike Hastings.

Waterloo led 2-1 in the third period when Ben Arnt and Patrick Wiercioch scored for Omaha.

Chad Billins tied it up at 3-3 on the power-play, sending the game into overtime.

Drew Palmisano was named the Most Valuable Player for the Clark Cup playoffs, posting a record setting four shutouts, including two in the final series against Waterloo.

WOW what an outstanding game boys. We guys did it all this year, no one even came close to being as good as the LANCERS. I just hope all the true hockey fans in Omaha got to see these boys play cause it will be a long time before another team like this one comes along again. Thank you Coach Hastings, Coach Mendelson, and Bill Nervig for a great season! Without you it would not of happened. See you all at the tryout camp in a few weeks. Lets go for 2 in a row!!

What else can be said other than what an amazing season group of players that were assembled this season to wear the Orange & Black? The 22nd season of Lancers hockey ends with yet another pair of championship trophies, the Anderson Cup & Clark Cups being won by the same team in the same year!!! Head Coach/GM Mike Hastings is an incredible leader, coach, and mentor to those young players and continues to bring the best and brightest young men to the Omaha/Council Bluffs area each and every single season to play in front of the best and brightest fans in the USHL! The 2007-08 Omaha Lancers, led by team captain Chris Hepp and anchored by so many talented weapons on both offense and defense, will be remembered very fondly for many years to come with all they have accomplished during their incredible run to the top of the USHL this past season!

Lancer players, "Your fans love the Lancers"!! Our group that sits up behind your bench played right along with you just like all of your wonderful host parents and other great fans. Our prayers and kinectic energy were passed on to you during each and every game including many away games. Win or lose, you could never disappoint us because we knew your individual personalities and characters. You set such high standards as young men that we feel you are so very deserving not only of this fantastic accomplishment but of the great life ahead for each of you. Thank you for the fun, the laughter, and the tears of joy. We expect all of you back sometime for a reunion and Chris, why not come back after college to help our fantastic coaches? May God Bless each of you....... P.S. Warm thanks to WOWT Channel Six, a favorite station, for finally granting the Lancers some good sports news coverage. We fans appreciate your effort.
