The UNO Mavericks won the battle of the bats in a North Central Conference Tournament showdown at Boys Town Friday afternoon dropping Minnesota State-Mankato 11-9.

The Mavs were trailing 3-2 in the third but that changed in a hurry. Chris Weimer put one over the scoreboard for a solo home run, his 16th round-tripper of the season and 34th of his career. That tied an all-time record for the Mavs.

The hit-fest continues but UNO prevailed and advanced to the championship game on Saturday afternoon.
