Matt Palmer struck out nine, scattering five hits over eight innings as the Grizzlies blanked the Royals 2-0 Monday afternoon in Fresno.

Brian Horwitz singled home a run in the second inning and Justin Leone doubled in a run in third and that was all Palmer (2-3) needed.

Alexander Hinshaw pitched the ninth for his fifth save. Tyler Lumsden (1-3) took the loss for Omaha.

The Royals open up a homestand starting at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday against Portland.
