Senior linebacker has missed last two games

Nebraska linebacker Bo Ruud practiced with the team Wednesday and could play this Saturday against Kansas State.

“It looks real positive,” said coach Bill Callahan after the workout. “We’ll see how he responds tonight and tomorrow when he comes back in to see the trainers. It’s very positive."

Ruud was injured early in the 36-14 loss to Texas A&M on October 20th. He has 42 total tackles in 2007 and a pair of interceptions that went for touchdowns in wins over Ball State and Iowa State.

“I would like to see him start (on Saturday),” Callahan said. “I think that would be great for him if he’s ready. We’ll see where we’re at.”

Nebraska could certainly use the help. Kansas State's defense is ranked fourth in the Big 12 in yards allowed, with 347.7 per game.

The Huskers are preparing for a 3-4 and 4-2 defense from Wildcat defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar.

“We’re going to see both the odd and even front,” Callahan said. “They do a good job with their ends. I’m really impressed with (Ian) Campbell. He’s a premier end in this conference with No. 95 (Rob Jackson). Both guys have the ability to squeeze the pocket and put pressure on the quarterback.”

Yeah, you keep believing that. He's marginal at best.

He doesn't have the gut to play unless he is the winner. No fight in him unless he is the hero. The only way he will play is if his fragile ego thinks he is assured a win so he can try to take credit for it. If callahan made it a struggle to be 1st string we would have won more games..

Rudd is a good player, it is the system and coaching that has failed this year.. COZ being fired should have come up weeks ago over Callahan...

The businesses represented on Ruud's T-shirts will be happy to hear about this.

does it matter? He's been ineffective throughout the season. Even if he was effective, the team is beyond the help of one player. So let me ask again, does it really matter?
