Midway through season, Callahan "not where I want to be"

A | A | A

After struggling against Missouri, the Nebraska defense will face a big challenge from Oklahoma State this Saturday. The Cowboys rank second in the Big 12 with 234.5 rushing yards per game.

With half of the season to go, Nebraska coach Bill Callahan sees this game as an important test.

“I think these next six games will determine a lot of things as to where we can go and how much improvement we can make over the long haul.”

“Usually, as the season goes on you continue to improve in areas.” says Callahan. “As long as you see that, I’m pleased. If it could register into a few more wins, I’d be a lot happier. At the split, it’s not where I want to be.”

Nebraska had an hour-and-a-half practice Thursday in shoulder pads and shorts at Memorial Stadium.

If Lincoln is not where he wants to be they why don't he use his raise to buy an airplane ticket elsewhere. It it evident no one is buying into his game plan either offensively or defensively.

The best thing would be for Steve Pederson to step down. Do it for the team, Steve! You brought the word "mediocre" into our vernacular, so take it and your own mediocrity out of the picture and let the Nebraska football players just play ball.

Improvements have been made or will be made during the season. After last Saturday’s loss you say we can improve on what. Almost losing to teams we should easily win is not improvement. Losing and giving up over 40 points to 3 teams in 3 separate games is not improvement. This Husker team is going to be one of the worst in Husker history. I believe it is not the players fault because they are doing all they can, but it is the coach’s fault because they cannot coach or execute the needed plays. This used to be a great team with great traditions. Now all I see is a team who cannot win to save their lives. Until Callahan, Cosgrove, and Pederson are gone this team will keep on losing to teams they should be able to beat. I hope we can get Tom Osborne to come back for awhile until we can find a new coach or hire a person who played or coached for the Huskers back in the good old days. Any person who knows our traditions of a once great team should be a great coach in my mind.

I will always be a Nebraska fan but I am diappointed in this 4th year of the new Huskers. I hope for better things and I guess this week will tell what the rest of the year will bring.
