College World Series teams continue to make their way to Omaha, including Stony Brook. The team arrived Wednesday, its first trip to the series. The Seawolves beat mighty LSU to get here and are considered the Cinderella team of the bunch.

Their fan base is already set up. Stony Brook headquarters is located around 144th and Drexel, a nice neighborhood where Kevin Piscoya and son Eric spend time shooting baskets. “Good neighbors, good friends.”

The talk of the neighborhood is the College World Series and the team from Long Island, New York. For those who live in Omaha’s Stonybrook neighborhood, it was kind of a shock. “I thought wait a minute, Stony Brook’s playing, I hope I'm not up at bat,” said Lois Boittell. “I didn't know there was a Stony Brook anywhere.”

“I thought it was a coincidence, but I never heard of a team Stony Brook, I didn’t know they existed until they made it to the College World Series,” said Linda Mason.

Stony Brook University is happy to be in Omaha. They might not know about the fan base they have here, but they are enjoying the moment. “We're kind of embracing it and hopefully we're all loyal to our fans,” said Travis Jankowski. “It’s great basically to have the whole world on your side.”

The Seawolves may not have the entire world on their side, but they will have a lot of folks in one part of town cheering them on. "I think it’s great, we'll be there and be voting for them, go Stony Brook,” said Piscoya. “Oh yeah, I'm gonna root for ‘em,” added Dewy Boittell.

Stony Brook and its fans won’t have to wait much longer. The Seawolves gets the series started, playing the first game at 4 p.m. Friday against UCLA.
