In January, inspectors found two critical violations. Inspectors noted rodent droppings and a dead mouse in the cafeteria's stove room, as well as, a dirty ice machine.
WOWT 6 News asked Omaha Public Schools to see the cafeteria and what they're doing to fix the issue; however, the district declined.
According to a written statement from OPS, “We hold all of our food service establishments to high standards. Whenever situations are noted, we take care of them immediately. Food safety and sanitation are extremely important to us.”
Douglas County inspectors returned to the cafeteria a month later. At that time, they noted more rodent droppings behind the caferia's washer and dryer area.
