POACHED PEARS IN PORT WINE
Ingredients
9 pears, Bartlett or Bosc
2 cups Port wine
1 ½ cups water
1 ½ cups sugar
Directions
Combine the Port wine, water and sugar in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer.
Peel the pears and remove the bottoms including the core. Place the pears in the simmering liquid and cover with parchment paper to ensure even coating. Simmer for about 10-30 minutes, depending on the ripeness of the pears. Remove when they are done and allow to cool.
