Hello! I hope everyone is doing well this week! I was just thinking about the gifts I have received to help me quit smoking, and I can’t believe I forgot to mention them on my blog! For anyone who is trying to quit smoking, these are both really great ideas that you might want to try for yourself! The first gift I received was from a past smoker and it is an empty pack of cigarettes covered with new paper, titled “Fresh Air”, and it is filled with straws that are cut the length of actual cigarettes. Someone had done this for the person that did it for me when she was trying to quit smoking, and she said she never thought it would work until she actually tried it one day and it really did work! I have been carrying my “Fresh Air” cigarettes with me everywhere in case of an emergency once I get myself weaned down to smoking 0 cigarettes a day. The other gift I received is a calendar with really awesome pictures for each month! You might be thinking, “Okay, so how is a calendar going to help you quit smoking?”. In addition to the calendar, I also received a huge roll of stickers, so that I can place a sticker on each day I am smoke free! The person that gave me the calendar and stickers also gave the calendar and stickers to the person that gave me the “Fresh Air” cigarettes, and she used her calendar and stickers for her first full year of being smoke free! I think this is a great way to remind myself of the accomplishment I will eventually achieve and how much it will improve my health and life in the long run. I have been doing really well cutting back the amount of cigarettes I smoke each day, and I have managed to cut down by about 50%! I have my first session with the Tobacco Treatment Specialist at Alegent on Thursday afternoon and I cannot wait! I will tell you all about it when I blog later this week!
