On Wednesday, getting into a bar in Utah will be as simple as showing the doorman a valid ID.
No more fees, forms or hassle.
A new state law will go into effect Wednesday eliminating a requirement that has made every bar in Utah a private club for the past 40 years.
The change is part of an effort to make the state more appealing to tourists and give businesses and employees who are considering moving here one less reason to stay away.
Many bars and customers plan to celebrate with a bar crawl.
In exchange for allowing bars to open their doors to anyone 21 and older, state lawmakers strengthened drunken driving penalties and are also requiring bars to electronically scan the ID of anyone who looks younger than 35.
