A train hits two cars in Cass County according to the Cassgram. Sunday at 5am deputies responded and investigated a train/two-vehicle collision in the area of 226th Street and Highway 6, rural Greenwood. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad advised a train had collided with two vehicles that were on the railroad tracks.
Greenwood Fire and Rescue got to the scene first and found there were no occupants in the vehicles.
The investigation determined Scott J. Angell, 32, David City, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala when the front end became disabled on the tracks. Angell walked to Cubby's convenience store to get help. Later, Kyle Schamp, 19, Ashland, was attempting to tow the Impala with his 1999 Ford pickup when the BNSF train approached and rammed both vehicles. He got out of the way in time. No injures were reported
