Saying it was nothing personal with the mayor or council, Plattsmouth Fire Chief Mike Wilson said he was resigning after 4½ years in the position. He said he could no longer meet the "high demands" of the time commitment involved in heading up the volunteer department.

The Cassgram reports that he made the announcement during the public comment period of Monday’s city council meeting.

About an hour after the meeting ended, Mayor Paul Lambert told Cassgram he had since talked to Wilson and knew that some city council members were also going to talk to him. Lambert said the mayor must officially accept the resignation to make it valid and he has not, so at this point, "It’s not a resignation."
