| You know what's cool about Tri-Center High School? The Show Choir. There are 38 singers and seven band members in the T-C Sensations. The students in Show Choir begin work on their show songs and choreography in August. In the past 26 years, the Sensations have received 21 Superior Ratings and have won their conference show choir contest 20 out of 40 years. The Sensations also boast a 1st semester grade point average of 3.67.
They also work hard in Fitness Class. Students work on weightlifting, form running, foot speed drills, flexibility and agility. Students get an athletic index score based on seven athletic events ranging from bench press to a 300 yard shuttle run. These events yield the athletic index score which is measured three times a semester for each student. During the first semester of implementation of this score, the average student raised over 47 points.
You know what else is cool about Tri-Center High School? High-tech Math Class. Teachers utilize "clickers," digital presenters and overhead projectors to help instruct students. The school also requires four years of math at Tri-Center for all students, the first school in Iowa to do so. It uses a computer-based program, Accelerated Math, allowing individualized math support for each student.
