| First, Lewis Central's great pottery classes make their school cool. Mr. Cunningham has developed one of the best pottery programs in the area.
Lewis Central has eight potters' wheels, including a 1600's style treadle wheel, built as a class project by two alumni. The school also built a Japanese-style Anagama wood-fired kiln. This school year, almost 700 students are enrolled in the 15 offered classes.
You know what else is cool? Lewis Central's College and Career Academy, Project Lead the Way, and Honors Early Start Classes. Students work with technology to develop skills in engineering, archetecture, web design and computer repair. Students can earn college credit for a low cost.
Finally, Lewis Central is cool because more than 230 students participate in vocal music, and 100 student participate in band. At least a quarter of the student population is in performing arts, and over 70% involved in all activities.
