WOWT and Fareway have partnered to honor our heartland families
who are actively serving in the military.
For the Remillard's two
boys, life in the military is all they've ever known.
“We just had Max five days ago," Samantha said.
Max joined energetic two-year-old Jackson in the household.
Samantha said, “You've been lucky enough to go to some fun places. Michael agreed, telling us, "Yeah, I"ve been to some great places. I've been to the desert a few times, Japan, Curacao..."
Michael has been in the Air Force almost 10 years. He was transferred to Offutt Air Force Base and met his wife, Samantha.
"I've been here for a while and I figured we're hot for orders. Everybody was getting orders."
The Remillards just found out they're being transferred to Hawaii. Samantha, who grew up here, is looking at the bright side.
"I feel like it's going to bring our family closer," she said.
Michael does aircraft maintenance at Offutt. Jackson knows his daddy fixes airplanes but for our cameras, he just wanted to show
off his favorite truck.
“He gets to grow up in the military. He gets to grow up being so proud of his dad."
And as Michael prepares to move his entire family, including a precious newborn, to Hawaii, he makes it clear why he serves.
“It's nice to know we're doing something good; we're helping someone out," he said. "We're saving lives where we can. It's nice to
know we're doing something good."
We’re sharing the stories of area military families here on Heartland Homefront on the first Tuesday of each month. The families
featured in our coverage each receive a $250 grocery gift card. If you would like to nominate a family for consideration, click here
