WOWT and Fareway have partnered to honor our heartland families
who are actively serving in the military.
Time together is precious for the Rolley family.
Brandi Rolley said, "We've been doing it about 11 years now. He's gone about 120 days out of the year."
Mitchell Rolley serves in the Air Force. Brandi stays home. She takes care of their two boys and runs a licensed day care in her home. But that's not all.
"We have 13 chickens, two dogs, a few reptiles," she said. "We just continue on."
Mitchell praises his wife for all of her hard work. While he's away, she even mows their huge property - six acres.
Mitch told us, "I can't even begin to put myself in her shoes and imagine all the work that she has to do."
The family admits it gets harder with each deployment but Brandi said, "It's worth it. And we're very proud of him for doing it."
And Mitch says although it doesn't come without sacrifices, he is proud to serve and thankful to be recognized for his service.
"It's nice to know that other people out there appreciate the hard work that we just try to do as a family," he said.
We’re sharing the stories of area military families here on Heartland Homefront on the first Tuesday of each month. The families featured in our coverage each receive a $250 grocery gift card. If you would like to nominate a family for consideration, click here
