The Morehouse family was ready. They had signs, balloons and the whole family was waiting.
When Sgt. First Class Chris Morehouse stepped off the plane, it was his precious baby girl he was looking for - his two-month-old daughter, Makella.
The Sergeant's wife, Jenny Morehouse, said, "He missed the birth, but he's actually been able to see her over Skype, but that's not the same as getting to hold your baby girl for the first time."
Jenny got ready with their other child, three-year-old Titus. Like most toddlers, Titus loves to hide. Amidst giggles, he finally saw his dad. He took off running, got a little shy, and finally wound up in his father's arms.
"I missed you daddy," he said.
Then it was Makella's turn. Dad finally got to hold the little girl he's only been able to see from thousands of miles away. The 26-hour trip was worth every minute.
"She's way more beautiful in person," Chris said. "And it's nice to hold her."
Sgt First Class Morehouse was scheduled to head back to Afghanistan on Thursday, February 9.
