Scrap Metal Thefts, What To Do and Where To Turn

Updated: 04/09/2014 - It's weighed, it's piled and then smashed and crushed. Scrap metal and cars come in by the tons to Lakeside Auto Recyclers every single day. But they do more than collect and buy metal, they're also sometimes eyes and ears for Omaha police officer Bill Fell. Officer Fell investigates scrap metal thefts. "It's difficult to catch it at times," said Fell. "You will see the stacks in the back there that are enormous in size. There are four stories of steel back there that comes in on a weekly basis."
