The written word goes a long way when expressing thanks. That's why at Westroads Mall Sunday, families sat down and put pen to paper.
Mall-goers took a little time from their shopping, to write notes.
Each thanks the men and women in uniform serving overseas.
Almost every seat at the writing station was taken late Sunday afternoon.
Each person had their own reason for wanting to send out a card.
Jana & Shayla Kramer say it's to show military members they're appreciated.
"Because they are all overseas so selflessly, helping people."
"Just because that is what they want to do, not because they have to."
This is the seventh year the American Red Cross has helped coordinate and run the event.
