A robbery suspect left behind crucial evidence. The victims are helping Omaha police solve the case.
Jeri Metzger and friend, Khoa Ly are learning a childhood lesson all over again. “I've met people like at bars, you know, you're just chilling outside, like hey, do want to chill for a sec and you're like yeah, okay,” said Metzger. “Let's go party at someone's house."
They thought they were going to make new friends, but instead became the victims of an armed robbery. What was it about them that seemed cool? “Just because they're people and I think every single person has value."
Metzger and Ly got into a car with three strangers. “While he was pulling around he was like, everything out of your pockets,” said Ly. “Give us everything you have. I was like oh, are you kidding me? This is a joke, right?"
It was no joke. “She like started punching me, like in the eye while I was still in the back seat of her car,” said Metzger.
“The bald guy, he punched me in the face, one punch in the face, right here and then I looked over, the guy next to me, was like 250, 260, me and him were fighting in the back seat,” said Ly.
They took Metzger's purse, but left behind a cell phone. “I looked at the pictures in her phone again and we’re like yep, this is her. And when the detective was showing me the pictures of her on the computer once he could search it, I was like oh yeah, I still remember her."
Metzger and Ly are fine and although they didn't lose any cash, Metzger hopes to get her purse back. No one has been arrested yet.
