Cedar Rapids, Iowa police say an 84-year-old woman crossing a busy street was injured when she was hit by a school bus.
Bonnie Nielsen, of Cedar Rapids, was struck Wednesday morning as the bus was turning left. Police say Nielsen, who was in the crosswalk, was taken to a hospital.
No students were on the bus.
Police say the bus driver told officers that she didn't see Nielsen because the sun was in her eyes. Cedar Rapids school district spokeswoman Marcia Hughes says the bus driver was on her way to her first stop and neither she nor an attendant on board saw Nielson.
Police are determining if charges will be filed.
