A woman was injured Saturday when she was struck by her own SUV that was being stolen.
A man got out of a pickup and approached an SUV left unoccupied with the engine running outside the Super Quik Stop at Twin City Drive and Veterans Highway in Council Bluffs. He got into the SUV and began backing up when the SUV owner saw what was happening and ran over. She was hit by the SUV, knocking her to the ground. She was not seriously hurt.
The crime was recorded by a video surveillance camera.
A passenger in the pickup drove that vehicle away, heading into Omaha. The SUV was also seen heading toward Omaha.
The stolen SUV is a blue 2002 Mazda Tribute with Iowa license plates 859YJA. It is missing paint on the hood. Police ask anyone with information on the theft to call them at 712-328-7867.
