A woman who jumped out of an SUV on Interstate-80, in Omaha, during an argument with her husband Sunday morning was hospitalized in critical condition. Her husband has been booked on suspicion of DUI, among other charges.
The incident happened in the eastbound lanes, just past the 13th Street exit just before 2 a.m. According to police reports, 28-year-old Eva Torres-Anaya and her 37-year-old husband, Alan Lautrup got into an argument while they were in the car. Lautrup told police the couple had been drinking.
At one point, Torres-Anava opened the door and jumped out of the moving vehicle. Lautrup immediately stopped and was joined by an off-duty medic, who called 911 and began caring for Torres-Anava.
She was taken to the hospital with multiple fractures. Details about her current condition have not been released.
Lautrup had a blood-alcohol level of 0.13, well above the legal limit of 0.08. He was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence, resulting in serious bodily injury, having an open container (alcohol) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
