It's bitter news for the more than 100 high school students who had planned to participate in a culinary competition in Omaha this weekend.
A massive snowstorm that swept the Midwest this week led officials at Omaha's Metro Community College to cancel the school's Institute of Culinary Arts Invitational, set for Friday and Saturday.
Beth Augustyn at the college said 118 students from 16 area high schools were expected to participate in the competition. The invitational included a contest in which teams would prepare a three-course meal in an hour.
The invitational is intended to showcase the culinary and academic talents of high school students within a 100 mile radius of Omaha.
