Cheers filled the Westside High gym Tuesday as students and staff gave the Warriors football team a spirited sendoff to their showdown with Omaha North for the Class A state football title.
As a follow-up to North High’s pep rally last week, the Westside event finished setting the stage for the championship game.
The cheerleaders, dancers and band put on quite a show.
Coach Brett Froendt said, “Hey, old fashioned is good. Pep rallies are awesome, especially when the spirit is true and genuine and today it was. It was exciting to see all of the kids here really supporting the football team."
Westside is playing for its first state championship since 1982 and with North High on the other side of the ball, the trophy will be coming to Omaha regardless of who wins.
