What will America look like in about 50 years? The Census Bureau says it will be considerably older and more racially and ethnically diverse by 2060. The U.S. population is also projected to grow much more slowly over the next several decades compared with the last set of projections released in 2008 and 2009.
Meantime, Federal Reserve officials continue to prop up the economy, saying they expect to see the main interest rate near zero until 2015. Companies like Apple, Starbucks and Chevron could help boost the economy next year as they increase capital spending and announce additional expenditure plans.
Facebook is trying to make its privacy controls easier to find and understand in an effort to turn the social network into a more discreet place after coming under scrutiny about how it handles personal information. This means you'll be able to manage what information is shared and who sees it. All these new privacy settings will roll out over the next few weeks and into next year.
