Warning About Mixing Diet Drinks & Alcohol

They are popular because of the lower calorie count and the idea that diet drinks are less fattening. But that's not a good thing if you're mixing diet drinks with alcohol.

A new study shows combining diet drinks with alcohol can result in a higher breath alcohol concentration because it causes the stomach to empty faster.

In fact, researchers found people who consumed diet mixers had the highest breath alcohol concentrations of all other bar patrons and their behavior was more impaired.
