It's a new store with a familiar name. And it's bringing about 180 jobs to the Omaha area. Two new Walmart Neighborhood Markets, one in Omaha and one in Bellevue, are set to open March 1st.
When we think of Walmart we usually think of the Walmart Supercenter, which is a grocery store and discount department store under one roof.
The Neighborhood Market is a full-service grocery store designed to be more convenient than the Supercenter when all you need is groceries.
Chris Anstine is the manager at the new Bellevue Neighborhood Market. “We carry a full line grocery, full line health and beauty aids, pet department, cleaning supplies, full service pharmacy with a drive through, money services, produce, meat, bakery, deli.”
The Omaha store will be near 132nd and Maple. The Bellevue store sits just off Capehart Road near 25th street.
Scooters Coffee and Yogurt is one of several businesses nearby the Bellevue location.
“With that going on right next door, and with the base going on we have a lot of business,” said Scooters manager, Brandi Aldridge.
Aldridge says having a grocery store right next door will also be convenient for when they run low on supplies.
“We do use a lot of milk,” she says. “And we go through it really quickly. So we can just hop over the street and get it.”
Applications are being accepted at the Walmart hiring center at 11811 I street. You can also apply only at Walmart.com or at the job application kiosk in any Walmart Supercenter.
Two more Neighborhood Markets are scheduled to open in Omaha in May. One is going up at 50th and L street. The other is at 168th and Harrison.
