Patrick Colgan has a chance to rack up some serious frequent flyer miles in the next few months.
The Fremont teenager, who is a senior at Wahoo High School, will head to Atlanta for a four-day scholars event.
Colgan was one of 252 students from around the country — and one of just four from Nebraska — chosen as finalists from a pool of more than 84,000 applicants and 2,200 semifinalists.
Colgan had to write several essays and provide details about classes he has taken and volunteer experiences to be considered as a finalist.
As a finalist, Colgan already has qualified for a $10,000 scholarship and
will be interviewed in Atlanta for an opportunity to receive one of 50 $20,000 scholarships
