Valley Man Sentenced for Crash; $50 Fine

The driver who was scheduled for trial this week in Sarpy County over two misdemeanor traffic tickets has made a deal with prosecutors.

Jeffrey Gamm, 53, of Valley pleaded no contest Wednesday morning to the charge of following too closely.

In return - the Sarpy County Attorney dropped the other misdemeanor charge of careless driving.

Gamm was the driver of the pickup that ran into the back of Paul Ivey Junior's car in February near 156th and Harrison.

Ivey, a Millard South honors student, was pinned.

He spent nine days in a coma and many wondered if he would even survive. He did.

Gamm's sentence for the plea: a $50 fine.

Sarpy County Attorney Lee Polikov says it's a common sentence in a traffic case where the victim survives.
