Theft charges in Washington County, Nebraska against 16-year-old Dylan Smith have been transferred to juvenile court after he had been initially charged as an adult.
The first theft occurred on February 2nd when he allegedly stole items from Fort Calhoun High School, including Apple iPads and laptop computers.
Smith was out on bond March 14th when authorities chased a stolen SUV through three counties. He ended up in a Pottawattamie County, Iowa field, drove up onto railroad tracks and crashed into a tree after stop sticks were used.
Although Smith had initially been charged with felonies as an adult, Washington County District Judge John Samson has moved the cases to juvenile court.
Smith was sentenced in Pottawattamie County to time already served.
