The Salvation Army’s 2012 Tree of Lights Campaign continues to provide care and Christmas cheer to those in the metro, all from the gifts of others.

The campaign has reached 41.3% ($1.281 million) of its overall goal of $3.1 million. All donations collected go to support The Salvation Army community services throughout the year, including food pantries, housing, education, and recreation opportunities for youth and seniors. All money raised stays in the community where the funds are collected.

Serving as the “official kettle counter”, Mutual of Omaha Bank is again partnering with the Salvation Army for its Red Kettle Campaign.

This is the fourth consecutive year the bank has served as a partner organization, counting donations from more than 5,000 red kettles across Douglas and Sarpy counties, including a kettle positioned outside the bank’s headquarters at 3333 Farnam St.

“We firmly believe in the mission of the Salvation Army and are honored to again serve as a local partner for the 2012 Red Kettle campaign,” said Mutual of Omaha Bank Chairman and CEO Jeff Schmid. “The Salvation Army is a vital organization in our community and we know this year’s donations will make a different in the lives of countless individuals and families.”

“The bell ringing portion of the Tree of Lights Campaign is a very hectic time, and for Mutual of Omaha Bank to step up to count the kettles for us has been a huge benefit.

They have taken responsibility for a large portion of time-critical detail work that allows us to concentrate on the daily logistics of registering bell ringers and delivering kettles.

We are fortunate to have them as a community partner,” said Greg Kadrlik, divisional director of volunteers.
