It shocked and saddened the Fremont community when a stand out teenager went missing and was later found dead. Over a month after his death, Fremont Police now know what caused the death of 16-year-old Brandon Kamphaus.
The toxicology results revealed that Kamphaus died from "toxic effects of exogenus insulin." In layman's terms, Kamphaus, who was diabetic, died of an insulin overdose.
Police said early in the investigation that no foul play was suspected in the death but would not comment any further.
The teen went missing in late September after he did not show up to school. His car was found blocks from the school and days later he was found dead in an area northwest of Fremont.
