A string of unusual robberies in Omaha has investigators looking for a possible link. The latest victim was hit Wednesday morning.
“When I drove up I could see that it was a bit dark in there. And it didn't look like anyone was there,” said one customer.
That is how every customer reacted to the sign outside International Bead Market Wednesday after someone robbed the business at gunpoint. The suspect described as a black male in his between the age of 45 or 55, with a stocky frame, wearing a black stocking cap and a tan coat. He ran from the scene with cash but police believe this isn't the only place the man hit
“It's just scary. It's a matter of you have got to watch no matter where you are in your day. I just saw the police pull up,” said Kelli Dudley.
Tuesday morning someone matching a similar description hit CA Nails. They walked in with a gun and demanded money.
“I saw a man walking behind us in the windows, with a brown coat and a hat. Pretty soon we saw a bunch of cop cars and detectives pull up,” said Caryl Cox.
Cox owns the salon two doors down and says the entire incident has everyone thinking twice.
“We would never imagine something like that, especially at 9 in the morning,” said Cox.
But this isn’t the first time the robber has held a business at gun point. A similar robbery happened Sun Tan City. A man matching the same description walked with a gun and demanded money. Surveillance video captured inside the business shows the man reaching into his pocket and pulling out the gun.
These incidents have neighboring businesses watching everything a little more carefully.
“We keep the doors locked at all times if we're here by ourselves,” said Cox.
Police say they do believe these robberies are related. The man has targeted businesses that rarely ever get robbed and almost all of them during business hours when one person is working.
