University of Iowa Temporarily Stops Sharing Some Records
The University of Iowa temporarily has halted its sharing of information with local law enforcement about students who apply for gun permits.
University officials will be consulting with federal officials for guidance on confidentiality rules.
In some cases information on failing grades may have been included or information about depression or anger issues.
A university lawyer says forms signed by gun permit applicants at the Johnson County Sheriff's Office lets the university share that information with the Sheriff's Office.
