Unemployment Report For Communities Near Omaha

Unemployment in smaller communities. According to the Nebraska Workforce Development-Department of Labor report, the March (preliminary) unemployment rate in Cass County was 5.0%.

The breakdown: Cass County Civilian Labor Force: 13,676; Number Employed: 12,991; Not Employed 685

The Cassgram reports the March rate was two-tenths of a percentage point lower than the February rate. The rate was at 5.5% in January, 4.2% in December and at 3.7% in November.

The county unemployment was at 5.2% in March of 2012.

The March 2013 rates from neighboring counties with the change from a year earlier in [ ]: Otoe 4.2% [-0.1], Lancaster 3.5% [-0.2], Saunders 4.3% [-0.5] and Sarpy 3.8% [-0.5].

Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for March was 3.8%, the same as February’s rate. The March 2012 state unemployment rate was 4.0%.

The national unemployment rate in March was 7.7%, the same as February’s rate. In 2012, the March national unemployment rate was 8.3%.
