A woman who sought a job at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines is now suing the hospital, saying it failed to make accommodations for her shy bladder syndrome.
Jennifer Conner applied for a job as an organ transplant financial coordinator and was offered the job last June 22nd with the stipulation that she take and pass a drug test.
Conner says when she reported to take the drug test, she was placed in a room with no running water and ordered to produce a urine sample. Conner says she suffers from an anxiety condition called paruresis or shy bladder syndrome that keeps her from urinating in public restrooms or near other people. She says only running water can help her overcome the condition.
