Nearly $3 million in grants will go to help Nebraska's American Indian tribes improve their law enforcement and crime prevention programs.

U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg announced the grants worth $2.98
million on Wednesday.

The money will be split between the Omaha Tribe, Santee Sioux Tribe, Winnebago Tribe and Legal Aid of Nebraska.

Gilg says the grants should help make tribal communities safer.
The Nebraska grants are part of $118.4 million in grants
nationwide.
