Boxes, clothes and some teary-eyed parents mean move-in day before the start of a new school year and that was the scene Sunday on the University of Nebraska Omaha campus.

Plenty of heavy lifting going on as students moved in to Scott Court. The Martin family was on hand, sending their first born off to college. "Moving in with two of my friends so that's exciting,” said freshman Justin Martin. “It's going to be a fun experience.”

Hopefully, the empty laundry baskets being moved in won't be too full when these students take them back home to mom.

More than 2,000 UNO students will be moving into campus housing, the largest number of residents since it opened its first housing development, University Village, in 1999.

Creighton welcomes 960 freshmen and 45 transfer students this school year, most of whom moved into their residence halls on Saturday. More than 130 student, faculty and staff volunteers helped by hauling boxes, furniture and refrigerators into dorm rooms.

Most University of Nebraska-Lincoln students will be moving in this Thursday and Friday. Those residing in The Village (16th and X streets) and The Courtyards (17th and Vine streets) begin moving in on Tuesday.
