UNK Police announce after nearly three and a half hours the campus lock down is over.

Shortly before 3am Monday UNK Police lifted the lock down on campus.

Authorities said they did not find an armed person anywhere on campus and are now asking for the public's help to find the person who made the threat.

Around 11:30pm Sunday, University of Nebraska Kearney sent an alert to students asking them to stay inside and have the ask community members to stay off the campus.

The email was sent to students with the subject line of the email reading "Subject with a gun."

Kelly Bartling, the UNK Assistant Vice Chancellor for Communications and Community Relations, said in two separate tweets early Monday morning, "Thanks for your concern and caution this morning. As always if you see or hear anything unusual, call police or 911."

The email alert reads as follows:

"A male subject reported to police he had a loaded fire arm and was going to shoot himself on the University of Nebraska Kearney Campus. The call came in from an emergency phone located by the University Library. At this time we ask all Community member to stay off of campus. Those individuals that are on campus stay inside a secure area."

Kearney Police had no one available who could comment on the incident. A call to the UNK Police department went unanswered.
