A Lincoln woman was killed Monday on Interstate 80 after someone attempted to make a U-Turn right in front of her. The tragedy happened near Grand Island.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 58-year-old Nancy Hermanson.
Investigators say 34-year-old Kathy Teichmeier, of Almena, Kansas was driving east when she tried to make a U-turn. Her vehicle clipped the rear wheel of a motorcycle as she turned left. Another motorcycle, driven by Hermanson, rammed into Teichmeier’s car.
The first motorcyclist was Hermanson’s husband, C. Lloyd Hermanson. He managed to avoid crashing despite being clipped.
Teichmeier and four of her passengers were treated for minor injuries.
Teichmeier was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide. Hall County records say Teichmeier remained in custody on Tuesday.
