Jason and Sandy Christiansen have dents in their siding and their bank account. More than a year ago the Herman,Nebraska couple used their $13,000 insurance settlement to pay Storm Restoration. No work has ever been started.
Jason said, 'I have e-mails from a roofing company owner saying he's going to do it but he's on tough times and then he just disappeared."
After seven months the Christiansens' filed suit and won default judgment when the owner of Storm Restoration failed to show up in court.
Now company owner Jeremiah Childers faces two felony warrants for theft by deception.. Another customer, 82 year old Erma Olney of Nebraska City paid $2,000 early this year but no work was ever started on her roof.
Childers blames the company problems on a partner and money still owed by some customers. Childers said unfinished jobs, unpaid bills and work not started has been unintentional.
Childers said he's working to repay those customers who paid but have not received any work on their homes.
Storm Restoration is close to bankruptcy according the the co-owner.
Childers said, 'I'm the only one trying to do anything and nothing was ever intentional." He said he was unaware of any warrants until contacted by Channels Six News Fact Finders.
