It’s one of those crashes that could leave you wondering how anyone could come out of it without life-threatening injuries. The answer may be due to safety equipment.

It was about 3pm Sunday when the Gage County sheriff’s department responded to a one-vehicle crash just north of Wymore, Nebraska. A report says the driver, 16-year-old Shaylee Crawford of Wymore, was traveling northbound on South 36th Road.

Her Ford Explorer left the road, entered a ditch, and struck a tree. Both Crawford and her 16-year old passenger were transported to Beatrice Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Air bags were deployed during the crash. Both girls were wearing their seatbelt.
