Two more of the five defendants charged in an abuse investigation at the Beatrice State Developmental Center have pleaded not guilty.

Published reports reveal Cody Creek and Carmen Yates made the pleas on Wednesday. Both are 23.

Creek is charged with two felonies: abuse of a vulnerable adult
and strangulation.

Yates is charged with felony abuse of a vulnerable adult and a
misdemeanor charge of theft.

Matthew Johnson and Cameron Barnes also have pleaded not
guilty.

A fifth suspect, Matthew Pangborn, has yet to plead. His next
court appearance is set for Wednesday.

The five were charged after an investigation found residents at the center were beat, pushed, pinched and choked, often until they fell unconscious.

None of the accused works at the center now.
