Authorities have identified two men who were shot at 42nd and Grand Avenue Wednesday as 20-year-old Terrance Gunn and 20-year-old Mark Swift. Both were shot by someone passing by in a car.

The incident unfolded when police officers in the area of 39th and Browne Street heard several gunshots around 9:30 a.m. Shotspotter then indicated gunfire near 42nd and Grand Avenue.

Officers arrived and located one victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The second victim was located in the 4700 block of North 41st Street, also a victim of gunfire. Both were transported to Alegent-Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition but are expected to recover.

Grand shooting

Central Park Elementary was briefly placed on lockout.

Neither victim was willing to provide officers with many details about the shooting but there are leads.

“We've got a lot of good physical evidence we're going to be looking at, looking for possible suspects at this point in time,” said OPD Lt. Michael McGee. “The community is really stepping up and giving us some good information and that really helps these kind of investigations go quickly.”

Police are looking for a maroon, late 90s Cadillac with the last two digits of the license plate number: 87. It was being driven by a man in dark clothing and a red cap last seen leaving the area westbound.
