Update: Crash Victim Pronounced Dead

A three-vehicle crash at 168th and Blondo took the life of an Omaha man Wednesday morning.

The victim is identified as 29-year-old Zachery R. Shedd.

Police say Mr. Shedd was southbound on 168th and ran a red light. His Mazda was hit by an eastbound Van driven by 65-year-old James Bute of Fremont. Mr. Bute suffered minor injuries.

The two vehicles careened into a third – an Acura driven by 39-year-old Michael K. Bruening of Omaha. Bruening was stopped at a red light, facing northbound on 168th.

After crashing into the third vehicle, Shedd’s car hit a wooden light pole and came to rest southeast of the intersection. Shedd was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
