A man and woman were killed Sunday morning when a car crashed into a commercial building at South 89th and J streets in Omaha.
Police said the accident was discovered around 7 a.m., but happened sometime earlier. OPD Sgt. Joe Collins said the driver, 28-year-old Brooke Mace of Omaha, was going southbound at a high rate of speed into the industrial area and failed to stop at a T-intersection. Her passenger, 27-year-old Claudio Perea-Perez of Omaha, also died at the scene.
There weren't any skid marks near the crash. Neither of the victims was wearing a seat belt. Investigators found copper wiring and tools inside the car.
