Police are still seeking information that would lead to the arrest of Eriana Carr's murderer. The 16-year-old Benson High junior was shot and killed Tuesday night near 35th and Redick Avenue in Omaha. Her old cousin was wounded in the shooting.

While Eriana's family is dealing with this tragedy, they are also struggling to pay for her upcoming funeral. To help defray the costs, the Eriana Carr Memorial Fund has been established at any American National Bank.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 402-444-7867.

Twenty-year-old Nakia Johnson was wounded in the shooting around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. Residents told Channel 6 News they heard 15 to 20 shots followed by screaming. Both victims were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center where Carr died. Johnson is in stable condition.

By all accounts Eriana was a good kid, bright, athletic and sweet. Her mother, half-jokingly called Eriana her "good child,” but that all came to a violent end just a few feet from her home when someone in a passing car fired a number of shots at Eriana and her cousin.

“She just wanted to go to college, she wanted to leave here and live on campus,” said mom Shavon Carr. “She said that she would get rich and take care of her mother."

Eriana's parents are now planning her funeral. "She did not deserve to be shot, it's just too much."

Shavon remembers Eriana's refusal to get braces, saying they would ruin her unique smile. It's the same smile her family and friends at Benson High will miss. "She wore green every day, she went to every game on Fridays. She was just the perfect kid, she was."

Shavon says her daughter's life revolved around high school and her boyfriend. Now that she's gone, family and friends will have to figure out how to move on with their lives without the girl with the unique smile. "God's got my back, so whoever did this to my baby they will pay, they will," says Shavon. "They will feel my pain."
