A truck driver facing charges for his role in a fatal crash in western Nebraska last year is set to stand trial in September.
A judge on Wednesday set a September 9th trial date for Josef Slezak of River Grove, Illinois. The accident on Interstate 80 killed Christopher and Diana Schmidt of Gaithersburg, Maryland along with their two young children and unborn son.
Authorities say Slezak had been driving for too long when he crashed into the back of Christopher's car. The impact pushed the vehicle into a second car that was carrying his wife and children.
Slezak is charged with four counts of manslaughter, four counts of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular homicide of an unborn child.
