The city of Omaha will be receiving 26 trees to be planted by Omaha's Forestry crew at White Hawk and Elmwood Park.
On Monday, October 29, three trees of each of the following will be planted at White Hawk Park at 194th and F Street: triumph elm, pecan, black cherry, and plane tree.
Then at Elmwood Park, there will be three pecan, loefler's oak, silver linden, American hornbeam and one plane and lodge tree planted.
Year to date, the City of Omaha's Forestry crew has planted over 450 trees. City of Omaha Parks Department Acting Director, Brook Bench, said, "We are delighted to receive this donation; it’s great to
have community support for positive projects that help increase our cities tree canopy. We have goals to see hundreds of more trees planted with help from our Omaha Parks Foundation initiative, Plant a Tree,Grow a Legacy.”
The primary goal of ReTree Nebraska is to plant one million high-quality and diverse trees in Nebraska by 2017.
